Hey Guys,
Well I made it over the "Kanc". Although, I thought it would
fun to add about 17 miles to my day before I actually climbed that beast.
After changing a flat tire on my trailer I decided to miss my turn
and go 8 1/2 miles in the wrong direction. Nobody ever said I was the
brightest crayon in the box. We camped that night on the Appalachian Trail
next to a really cool stream, so it all ended up great.
Last night after riding a very long and hot day. We were sitting by this
old country store talking about where we could camp when this guy named
John came over and offered to let us camp in his yard. As it turned out
he lived on top of a mountain overlooking this beautiful town in Vermont.
His wife "Lisa" made us a fresh salad out of her garden.
John built a fire in the front yard and we all sat around listening
to Lisa and Leon play guitars while watching the coolest sunset yet on
this trip. Life does not suck! I hope all is well with everyone. Thanks
for all the cool emails. Talk to you soon.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
We made it through NY and PA without any problems other than a few flats.
The trip is becoming everything I hoped for. There is a bunch to say for
traveling and seeing the country we live in, but to be able to do it on
a bicycle with friends is the true joy. I love being able to stop at every
cool little park, fruit stand, swimming spot, or just a town square and
just relax and take it all in.
We are starting to pass more and more cyclist along the way going east
(that doesn't mean it's the right way Barry....just a bit more challenging).
I have been so impressed with the older couples that are out doing a coast
too coast ride. Like the Appalachian trail, it's always cool to stop and
talk with positive people who are doing the same thing. I wish it more
like that all the time.
We are now in Cleveland, Ohio and taking a day off to rest. I haven't
had a day off in two weeks and my body needs rest! It's amazing what your
body can put up with if you push it, but there is always that point when
you need a break. So on that note, see ya!
